William stopped by a few weeks ago to get another portrait taken. We talked for a bit and he told me he’d been robbed again a few days back. We finished shooting and I shook is work-worn hand.
William turned back around and asked a question, “Can you send this picture to my sister in Idaho?”
“Yes,” I said.
To me this is the spirit of this project — connecting, or reconnecting with family and friends through a physical object.
Holding a photograph, looking into the eyes of the loved one in the photo, sitting still, we can take our time, reminisce, think of our history, our family, and our connection and sometimes that’s as close as we can get.
